APLA Health Announces Construction of Third Health Center

State of the art facility will be first in the Miracle Mile / Carthay Circle neighborhood

APLA Health today announced construction of its newest federally qualified health center at 5901 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 310, Los Angeles, CA. The facility will offer anyone in Los Angeles County the opportunity to access quality primary medical and mental healthcare; HIV specialty care and support services, as well as STD and HIV screening and prevention services – including PrEP counseling and management.

“We’re excited to announce construction has begun on a new facility that will allow more people to access services to stay healthy. This is an opportunity for APLA Health to continue to meet the healthcare needs of our community in our community,” said Craig E. Thompson, chief executive officer of APLA Health. “Our staff sees more than 15,000 patients and clients each year and this new health center will allow us to continue to grow and serve more people who seek out our care.”

In December 2017, APLA Health acquired Global Healthcare – Los Angeles, a thriving private practice led by Dr. Jay Gladstein in the Miracle Mile / Carthay Circle neighborhood of Los Angeles. The health center staff is currently located on the 5th floor of the current building and will be moving to the new 5,675 square foot facility on the 3rd floor once construction is complete.

“This week is National Health Center Week and it’s a great honor to add to the nation’s network of more than 10,400 healthcare delivery sites,” Thompson continued. “Health centers like our new facility are an integral part of how more than 1 in 10 Angelenos receive care each year. By being in the communities we serve, we are able to provide comprehensive care with cultural humility.”

The new facility will have ten exam rooms, a lab, a dispensary, an open office area and medical offices. The facility was designed by Klawiter & Associates and construction will be led by Evilsizer Construction. Following completion of the new health center location, APLA Health will convert the current space into a 2,013 sq. ft. psychology clinic.
