Introducing Our
Newest Health Center

Since 2005, APLA Health has been committed to improving the health and well-being of Black and Latinx communities in the Willowbrook, Watts and Compton neighborhoods and ending the AIDS epidemic. Now we’re re-enforcing that commitment by bringing more services those who need us.

APLA Health is constructing its newest federally qualified health center on the campus of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science across the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital.

The facility will offer anyone in Los Angeles County the opportunity to access quality primary medical, dental care & mental healthcare, STD and HIV screening and prevention services – including PrEP counseling and management. We will also be expanding our Vance North Necessities of Life Program food pantry, which has been serving the Willowbrook, Watts and Compton communities since 2005.

We focus specifically removing the many health disparities that disproportionately communities of color, including higher rates of HIV infections and chronic diseases, and  LGBTQ+ individuals who may not seek medical care due to the crushing stigma around sexual orientation and gender identity, including: HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, depression, and substance abuse.

  • 4 dental chairs
  • 2 Laboratories
  • 2 Waiting rooms
  • Dispensary
  • Vance North Necessities of Life food pantry
  • Open office areas and
  • Medical offices.

The facility was designed by Klawiter & Associates and construction will be led by Evilsizer Construction.
