APLA Health has announced a new $25 per hour minimum wage for its workforce by January 2024.

In January 2021, the agency announced its intention to be a “pay leader” in LA County and adopted a $20 per hour minimum wage. Thereafter, APLA Health increased its minimum wage by 9% in 2022, to $21.80 an hour.

Effective January 1, 2023, APLA Health increased its minimum wage by 7% – to $23.37 an hour. Subsequently, APLA Health intends to increase it an additional 7% on January 1, 2024 to reach $25.00 per hour or $52,000 annually.

“With the continued leadership and support of the APLA Health Board of Directors, the organization recognizes its social and financial responsibility to provide the best possible care for the communities we serve and in which our patients and staff live. Providing a living wage minimum salary is a significant part of our ongoing efforts to create a just, diverse, inclusive and equitable workforce and community,” said Craig E. Thompson, CEO of APLA Health. “Further, we know that APLA Health’s employees are our greatest asset. This commitment positively affects more than one third of our workforce, the majority of whom are people of color and women. APLA Health has earned consecutive Gold-Level Health Center Quality Leader recognition from HRSA (the Health Resources & Services Administration) due to their hard work and dedication.”

The organization continues to offer generous paid vacation and sick leave, full employer-provided health insurance coverage for all staff, and a 6% match to employee 403(b) retirement accounts.
