APLA Health Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Former Board of Directors Member Wilbert C. Jordan, M.D.
In response to the passing of Dr. Wilbert Jordan, APLA Health CEO Craig E. Thompson issued the following statement:
“Today APLA Health joins our community in celebrating the pioneering legacy of Dr. Wilbert Jordan, who served as a member of our board. He was Professor Emeritus at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and founder of the OASIS Clinic. APLA Health would not be here today without his passion and commitment to serving those living with HIV in South Los Angeles.”
“Dr. Jordan steadfastly worked to improve the the lives of those less fortunate living with HIV. He knew first-hand of the disparities in resources and health outcomes in medically underserved communities. I invite all of our colleagues, friends, and allies to join us in honoring his legacy and to continue on in our efforts to end the HIV epidemic. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this time.”
Charles R. Drew University will be hosting a memorial service for Dr. Jordan on Friday, April 28th from 4–7pm at 1731 E. 120th St., Los Angeles, CA 90059.
