APLA Health Receives Four HRSA Quality Improvement Awards
Recognized as a Gold-Level Health Center Quality Leader
September 2, 2022 – This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced APLA Health had received four Quality Improvement Awards for its work as a federally qualified health center. HRSA provides Quality Improvement Awards to further its commitment to improve the overall quality, efficiency, and value of health care services for the more than 30 million patients served at health centers across the United States. The awards recognize the highest performing health centers nationwide and health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains from the previous year.
Of the four awards earned by APLA Health, Health Center Quality Leader, Gold Level, is the most significant. The highest level of this award, Gold Level is only awarded to the top 10 percent of health centers nationwide. This is the third consecutive time APLA Health has received this award.
About the other awards:
Health Disparities Reducer Award recognized APLA Health’s 10 percent improvement across different racial/ethnic groups.
Access Enhancer Award recognized that APLA Health increased the number of patients served and number of patients with access to comprehensive services by at least 5 percent.
Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognized that APLA Health’s continued to offer these services in one or more delivery sites.
“These awards are an empirical confirmation of APLA Health staff’s dedicated and diligent work to provide the best possible care for our patients throughout Los Angeles County,” said Craig E. Thompson, CEO of APLA Health. “They are a testament to our staff’s commitment to restoring dignity and trust within underserved communities by providing world-class LGBTQ+ empowering healthcare, support services, and HIV specialty care.”
