APLA Health Earns Top Score in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Health Equality Index

April 1, 2022 – APLA Health has earned a perfect 100 score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRC) recently released 2022 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), resulting in the coveted “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation. In its 15th year, a record 906 healthcare facilities actively participated in this national LGBTQ+ benchmarking survey of healthcare facilities on policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees.

Thompson, CEO of APLA Health. “The Healthcare Equality Index’s extensive evaluative criteria validates our organization-wide approach to prioritizing the equity and inclusion of our LGBTQ+ patients, employees and the communities in which we serve.”

This year marks the fifth year that HEI participants were given a score based on how many LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and practices they have in place in four different criteria. The first criteria consist of the foundational elements of LGBTQ+ patient-centered care. The three remaining criteria are Patient Services and Support, Employee Benefits and Policies, and Patient and Community Engagement. In addition, participants have to demonstrate that they offer transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits to their employees to receive the “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation.
