Matthew Permuy is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Addiction Studies in 2020 and his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology in 2021. Both degrees were obtained from Antioch University Los Angeles.
Prior to joining APLA Health, Matt has worked in both private and group mental health practices, conducting psychotherapy for adults and couples. He began his clinical training at ACTS, spending one year serving diverse populations of adults at no-cost therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wanting more to navigate the unique needs of the LGBTQIA+ community, he continued his clinical training at APLA Health. Some of Matt’s interests are working with adults encountering aging/elder issues and working with individuals who have experienced trauma, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, living with chronic illness. Matt is also passionate about utilizing pet/animal assisted therapy in the therapeutic practice and encouraging exploration of how human identification with animals can be emotionally, psychologically, and physiologically beneficial.
